As I alluded to last week, I do have the feeling that the ‘sand in the hourglass' of my year as your president is running out. What a year it has been and continues to be! I have and will have lifelong memories and friendships, and owe my gratitude to all of you for the successes we have achieved this year.
I had the good fortune to be able to attend Woonsocket's 50th Anniversary. It was a truly enjoyable time and a great meal at Kirkbrae. Woonsocket is a top notch group, and very active and involved for its size. PDG Joe Picard attended and spoke. PP Deacon Richard (Dick) Lemay was inducted as an A.G. Many past presidents and district governors attended, as did Gov. Humfreys and Mary and DGN Bill Vangel and Tina. Gerry Noel was inducted president 2010-11, Gerry Brenner president-elect. A nice paperback ad booklet was produced and I will certainly provide a copy to our Centennial Committee.
Regarding upcoming events, I am issuing a personal plea, similar to what I'd done with foundation giving, to attend the 50th Anniversary of the Million Dollar Meal at White's on Sunday, June 27 for brunch. Being the largest club in the District, it will be, frankly, embarrassing if we cannot fill at least a table of 10 (and that is far from an ambitious goal). Officers and Directors, especially, take note.
Certainly don't miss the meeting on June 28 when the torch (gavel and pin) is passed to Cynthia and her team. In keeping with the District example, we are promoting a seamless, continuity leadership transfer.
The next Board meeting will be on June 17 at 8:00 am (for both incoming and outgoing poobahs), and RAD will take place starting at 5:30 at Snookers that evening (no betting).
See you Monday for my swan song,
Richard

Walter Adamowicz reported that the Fishing Derby with San Miguel students was a great success and being at the fish hatchery meant the boys had an easy time catching fish.
June 17th Rotary After Dark will be held at Snookers, please all attend "the more the merrier."
June 28th Installation of new President, Officers and Board Members
July 6th - Rotary meeting will not be at lunch, it will be at 4 PM at Aqua at the Marriott
Barbara Harris presented a slide show on the trip to Esperanza in the Dominican Republic. The pictures showed all the members in the city, with the local Rotarians, the families they lived with, the water filters that were delivered to the families and dictionaries presented to school children.
