This Week's Reporter: Art Norwalk

In the most famous do-over since Chief Justice Roberts gaffed President Obama's Oath of Office, our club officers were installed (or was it re-installed?). In what was revealed only at the conclusion as a "stealth Club Assembly," President Cynthia reported on her rewarding experience at the International Convention in Montreal, where she made new friends and explored new concepts for partnership opportunities in International Service.

After describing how she got a French version of the Four-Way Test from a bartender, Cynthia discussed what the test meant to her as an ethical compass and the amusing device she has developed to keep it clear in her mind.

Saying "it was all about the shoes and the ties," Cynthia thanked Susan Johnson and the other committee members for the festive installation event.

I learn something interesting about Rotary everyday. I read what a club in a far away continent is doing in their community; I hear about natural disasters - typhoons, flooding, and earthquakes and know Rotarians are there. I learn from Rotarian friends; I listen to the ideas generated from our club members; I talk with people in our community about Rhode Island's enormous problems with seemingly no solutions. And I know our state is not alone in grappling these issues of education, healthcare, hunger and homelessness, literacy, work force preparedness, and more. I later wonder how our club could serve our community; what the power of 125 Providence Rotarians could do with the backing of 2475 other Rotarians in the district and 1,199,875 other Rotarians worldwide.

PP Deepak Vishnu, Kris David and others discussed the upcoming Group Study Exchange visit to Scotland and reminded members to propose trip participants ASAP - non-Rotarians (and not related to Rotarians) age 25-40 able to take four weeks for an expense-paid educational/cultural exchange visit this Fall.

Jerry Cannon reminded us that invoices for annual club dues have been mailed.

President-elect Barry Fain renewed the call for volunteers to help NOW in making the October 2 Street Painting Festival a success.
