Emily Bernstein
Emily has been inspired by keeping a daily journal. The journal helps her determine goals and measure progress to achieving them. It also helps to reduce anxiety and develop writing skills. Among the keepers of daily journals have been Leonardo DaVinci and Albert Einstein.

President Kris made several announcements:
Get well wishes are extended to Jim Gilcreast and Reverend Ralph Barlow.
The Providence Rotary Charities Board has received a $1,500 grant from The District to help implement the Providence Rotary program for the Fourth-Grade girls at The Kizirian School.
Also, the Charities board has approved a $1,660 grant to purchase school supplies for the welcome back kit for Kizirian School students.
A Celebration of Life for long time Providence Rotarian Margaret Kane will be held at the Providence Marriott on August 22nd at 7:30 PM.

Pete Brock advised that several members had contacted him to volunteer to serve on committees for The Legends for Literacy Gala and he encouraged more to do so.

- Barry Fain for a great Rotary coincidence. On the weekend his beloved Porsche was out of gas at his Providence residence. He and his wife drove to Rotarian Mike Kelly’s service station in Providence and found Mike working there in his Providence Rotary shirt and got a container of gas from him.
- Don Saracen for a visit this week from his Connecticut son-in-law, who loves RI beaches, and he was treated to a lobster dinner.

Speaker
New member Troylynda Williams spoke on her background and interests. Ms. Williams is the Community Relations Manager for the Rhode Island non-profit Living Innovations. She began service there as a case worker 9 years ago. Living Innovations main focus is on arranging shared living arrangements for persons with a wide range of developmental and intellectual disabilities.
The concept is to arrange for living arrangements in a non-institutional setting. Their clients have a wide range of ages and abilities. Employment opportunities for clients are also provided. One of their major programs is a monthly holding of the "Discovering Possibilities" event in which clients do storytelling to inspire achievement of goals.
Ms. Williams was born in North Carolina and has lived in Rhode Island since she was 4. She has received all her education in Rhode Island and next year will receive a B.A. degree from Rhode Island College.
One of her major interests is singing and teaching line dancing. She attributes her musical inclination to her father who was an accomplished musician and music teacher. Ms. Williams joined Rotary to give back to the community and network with like-minded people.
