Pres. Paul is recruiting for a Bell Ringing chair. Wendy Kountz said the club could do Dec 10, 11 and 12 at East Side Market or Providence Place Mall.
Ben Longtin said tickets will soon go on sale for the new 50-50 club that will have weekly drawings for $50 and a Grand Prize in June. Good holiday gift.
Randy Dittmar is looking for volunteers to deliver dictionaries to 3rd graders.
Save the date of July 9 for installation of DG Kris David followed by Glenn Miller Orchestra Concert at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. It’ll be a benefit for Kris’s expenses.
Kevin Oates asked members to RSVP for holiday party at Mike & Kathy Kelly’s Saturday, Dec 6.
If you’ve watched Shark Tank you have the basic idea of angel investing, says Jennifer Schwall, executive director of Providence-based Cherrystone Angel Group.
Cherrystone brings local people who have money and talent to invest together with relatively new companies that need financial and intellectual resources to fuel their growth. The investors look at about 100 companies a year, all in southern New England, but only invest in two or three. The group focuses on technology and pharmaceutical industry companies but looks at others; for example, they invested in the new Narragansett Beer.
Jennifer said the Rhode Island area entrepreneur group is growing, fueled by technology from local colleges and universities.
Rotarians and Interactors placed bookplate labels in over 2,000
dictionaries, getting them ready for presentation to all third
graders in Providence schools.
