Richard Applebaum announced a Paul Harris Fellows meeting: this Monday, May 18 at 11:30 a.m before the lucheon meeting.
Kris David, District Governor Elect did a great job with the District Assembly in Newport and the Providence Rotary was well represented with Gary Kaufman offering the inspiration and Don Saracen and Eric Shorr’s wife Lisa doing a presentation on social media.
Providence Rotary Club and individual members were recognized with a number of District awards: Best Club Bulletin, Art Norwalk; Rotary Reads, Terri Adelman!; Interact/New Generations, Paula Jacobsen; International Service for the Dominican Republic project, Jenny Miller, Wascar Montilla, Kevin Oates and Tony Mendez and Jim Gilcreast for 41 years of perfect attendance!
President-Elect Mike Kelly thanked Liz Messier and Walter Cotter for the fundraiser they did at Barker Playhouse to support Kris David’s year as District Governor.
The Fishing Derby is Saturday, June 6 – Walter Adamowicz and his committee are ready!
50/50 Raffle tickets have been distributed – odds are good that you’ll win. $200 will be awarded each week. Bryan Cook asked the club to support this project by buying and selling tickets. It will give the Club much need income for our charitable work in the community! The club has broken down the fund raiser into teams. The team Captains are: Suzanne Cannon; Bryan Cook; John Folan; Anthony Hollingshead; Mike Kelly; Ben Longtin; John McGinn; Liz Messier and Kevin Oates. Each team has 6-7 Rotary members with members assigned to sell 2-3 tickets. Suzanne Cannon has received back 44 tickets stubs for total sales of $2,200. Please keep in mind several things.

The total committed pot is 25 drawings at $200 per drawing totaling $5,000. We need to sell 100 tickets to break even. Every ticket sold over the 100 contributes $25 toward the Rotary Charities. It is only $25 because one-half of every additional ticket sold will be raffled off in the final drawing 50/50 pot drawing.

The first drawing is at the Rotary meeting on June 1so we only have a few weeks before then.

If will be harder to sell those tickets after the first winner is chosen because there is less chances to win. So really put forth an effort to sell those tickets now.

Finally, Team captains please turn in your ticket stubs and money’s. We need to get an accurate count of ticket sales as soon as possible. Please also give Suzanne a copy of your completed spreadsheet as you turn in your tickets.
Rotary Reads! Teri Adelman noted the great response from Rotary members willing to read this year – there are only a few schools left that need readers.
Bill DiBiasio attended the Mansfield’s Rotary auction where the Club raised $25,000 to send Shelter Boxes to Nepal.
Thursday night the Boston Pops “Beatles show went off without a hitch. The ride was comfortable, the seats were awesome, the music and narration was great and the company was truly Rotarian. The show brought back a lot of memories and included three sing-a-long songs. It was enjoyed by all. Thanks to all the coordination by Walter Adamowicz and PP Paul Segal.
