INSPIRATION
President Elect-Mike Kelly reminded us that in every Rotary Club across the globe, our race, creed or religion is not a factor, only that all are welcomed.
A second inspiration was noted in this meeting. After District Governor Elect Kris David spoke about a Rotaract member being found homeless and needing $1,700 to put down as a down payment for an apartment, Bryan Cook stood up and said can't we have 17 members contribute $100 to raise the money right now. Seventeen members raise their hands without hesitation. That's the power of Rotary.
ANNOUNCEMENTS/REMINDERS
Art Norwalk asked members to take posters to advertise the July 9th installation event for District Governor Elect Kris David. Liz Messier announced that the Rotary is selling tickets for the Glen Miller Band immediately following the installation. Tickets are reasonably priced so invite your friends. The dinner and dance is $39 for Rotary members and $60 for guests. Tickets for just the Glen Miller dance event after the installation are $30.
Jim Gilcreast announced that he is working with a sub-committee to recruit sponsors for District Governor Elect Kris David’s installation
Phyllis Fern announced that a card is circulating for Margaret Kane, who is recovering from shoulder surgery at Hattie Chafee House.
Richard Applebaum will be organizing the August 19th Rotary-PawSox event. Tickets are $9 and $13 with $2 from each ticket going to the Polio Plus Campaign
President Paul Borrelli and President Elect Mike Kelly pulled the first drawing for the 50/50 raffle. Virginia Thomas, friend of club member Lisa Hill was the winner.

Michael Friedman introduced that one time per month the club is going to highlight three of its members. This week we heard from:
John Folan, who spoke about his enjoyment of his Rotary involvement, his family upbringing, his education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and his career as a CPA and 18 years as a CFO at Cathleen Naughton Associates, Inc, a homecare agency in Providence RI.
Liz Messier spoke about her love of family, her passion of acting including teaching theatre, and her career as a relocation manager for Residential Properties.
Eric Shorr spoke about starting his first business while a college student, his love of family and his present career operating a business in partnership with his wife providing consultative services in technology sector.
