The Providence Rotary Paint-Off

Also here's a comment from PP Barbara Harris, event chair: The Paint-Off was a huge success on many levels, including proceeds which grossed $16,000 and netted $13,000.

Both silent and live auction proceeds exceeded expectations. We sold 130 tickets. The food, wine and music were largely donated. Rotarians on the committee and in the club really pitched in to make the event go smoothly. A night of no "drama", just fun.

Folks seemed to love the wine and cheese pairings,the jazz combo, and the cool loft space. The local artists had a great time painting along side each other. And the live auction with Steve Hug had people laughing and excited. My guests LOVED it!

Our committee worked together as a real team. Greatest credit goes to Geoff Gaunt and the Dryden Gallery staff  - they hit a home run

District Training will be held May 9, 2015 at CCRI in Newport., The training will include information on applying for Rotary Foundation grants.

Bill DiBiasio reported that: 1) ShelterBox was the first Non Governmental Organization on the ground assessing relief needs in Nepal following the devastating earthquake, and 2) for two weeks in a row no new polio cases were reported anywhere in the world: “we are that close!”

Wendy Marcus said Holly Applegate was the first member to send in a Litter Pickup photo – and she urged the rest of the members to see her to get a litter pickup bag. Once you have completed your litter pick up, please send your photo of you with your full bag to Wendy.

Terri Adelman is seeking individuals or teams of Rotarians to take part in Rotary Reads – you will be reading stories and giving books to fourth graders in all city schools. It takes about a half hour per classroom.
