Our Speaker

Jill Albright, President Elect of the Yarmouth Club and Co-chair of the Youth Exchange Committee with her husband Steve Albright Past District Governor, Rotary District 7950 joined us via Zoom. They have been a Youth Exchange host family for the past several years. Steve and Jill have been married for 26 years, have 5 children, and 11 grandchildren.

Youth Exchange Mission is to give high school students the ability to explore a new culture, learn a new language, and discover themselves through a long term or short term educational/cultural exchange. As a potential Rotary Exchange Student, they have an exciting adventure awaits them. It is a chance to expand their horizons as they have never been expanded before. The program offers both long-term, one academic year as well as short term, three to six weeks.

Our own members Clara Decerbo and Alex David have both been Rotary Exchange Students at different times and shared their positive experiences. The Youth Exchange Committee has a student who is interested in coming to Providence and is asking our club to consider hosting. This is a very well structured program, where each student is sponsored by a District Club. Every host is vetted prior to their engagement and has a District support person assigned to them.

Involvement with an exchange student challenges the family to become familiar with another culture, while providing an opportunity to share a student’s hopes and dreams. Host Families Hosting a student from another country is both a challenge and an amazing opportunity.
