March 28 Rotary News (Mar 28, 2015)

There were 28 exhibitors at the Trade Show, and moderator John McGinn visited with each of them in turn for a brief description of their business activities:

Ron Hoak’s Financial Concepts focuses on retirement planning, business succession planning and estate planning;
Anthony Hollingshead explained the services offered by Swan Point Cemetery on Providence’s East Side;
Jeanne D’Agostino spoke about Highland Charter School, RI’s first charter school;

Holly Applegate described the real estate sales services offered by Residential Properties, and
Liz Messier spoke about the firm’s relocation services;
Many of us have seen Danielle North on TV, but were not aware of her enthusiastic promotion of Unique Cosmetics, and that firm’s long, full eyelashes;
Don Saracen explained his approach to training clients in sales and marketing;

Eric Shorr’s Secure Future Tech Solutions provides computer and information technology sales and service, and Lisa Shorr’s venture, Shorr Style, provides marketing and branding advice and training to businesses;
Art Norwalk introduced Hope Alzheimer’s Center in Cranston and the services it provides to people with dementia and their families;
John Folan described Cathleen Naughton’s personal care services for seniors;
Pamela Kuehl designs stationery and logos;
Bintou Chatterton told us about Chatterton Insurance Agency which arranges property and casualty insurance coverage for clients;
Michael Friedman helps businesses arrange working capital and other asset-based financing through Gerber Finance;
Barry Fain reminded us of Providence Media’s print publications – “East Side Monthly”, “So Rhode Island”, “The Bay” and “Providence Monthly”, and mentioned the soon-to-launch publication, “Hey Rhody”;
George Burman described his career and numerous professional recognitions as an architect practicing in Montreal, Paris and now Rhode Island;
Terri Adelman described the tutoring programs in reading provided by Inspiring Minds;
Mike and Kathy Kelly mentioned the maintenance services available at Kelly’s Express Car Care Express Lube & Car Wash located near the Marriott and I 95;
Paula Jacobson and staff of the East Side Y described the Y’s many programs, “not just a pool and a gym”;
Bill David told us about the work of the Fogarty Center;
Tom Olson introduced us to the Parent/Olson Funeral Home which was founded by his wife and him;
Bob Morse announced his life and health insurance business;
Jenny Miller’s Senior Care Concepts helps clients plan and coordinate needed services for seniors;
Bob Huseby introduced Eric DiMario, a litigation attorney, who offered some words of wisdom concerning social host liability for providing alcohol to minors;
Jane Kratsch spoke of her work at Coastway Bank;
Stephen Hug told us about Family Service of Rhode Island, including the “walking school bus” program to help youngsters get to school;
Wendy Marcus told us about her Marcus/Goer’s interior design practice;
Ron Ware spoke about Wealth Impact Partners, which seeks to create excess wealth which its owner can deploy to leave a legacy;
Gary Kaufman’s Redwood Environmental Group provides environmental risk assessment and remediation services.

The presentations were crisp and interesting. After the meeting was adjourned, many of us stayed around to talk with our fellow Rotarians about their businesses.
