INSPIRATION
Lee Miller opened the meeting with the Jaycee Creed. "We believe: that faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; that the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; that economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise; that government should be of laws rather than of men; that earth’s great treasure lies in human personality; and that service to humanity is the best work of life."
A moment of silence was observed in memory of Tony Mendez's brother.

50-50 Club--Bryan Cook introduced this to the membership. Tickets are $50. There will be 25 drawings starting in February for the chance of winning $100 in each drawing, with the “BIG ONE” being held in the 26th week. President Paul kicked it off by buying $250 in tickets. NOTE: Checks must be made out to the Rotary Club of Providence and are NOT tax deductible.
John McGinn will chair a Club Assembly on January 5 at which all club committees will report on their activities over the past six months.
Jenny Miller reported on her, her daughter’s and Wascar’s recent trip to the Dominican Republic where they delivered 600 pairs of flip-flops. Additional flip-flops and bubbles will be given out to children for Christmas. Wascar and Jenny will return and take school supplies from 1/31-2/8. You can go, too. See Jenny for info.

George Burman introduced Judy Katz, Director of Development for Primary Source, a not-for-profit that provides professional development and resources to teachers so that global education becomes an integral part of every student’s classroom experience. This will enable tomorrow’s leaders to compete in a global economy in today’s interconnected world with widely different cultural realities.
Primary Source provides courses, webinars and libraries to teachers of grades K-12, conducted by university scholars. In its 25 years, they have served 20,000 (123 In RI) educators who in turn, have taught 1 million students.

Phil Gossel was happy that Brown students were enjoying year-round outdoor tennis.
Mary Brewster said her roof load calculations were all checking out better than the one at Brown.
Bill Sequino was thrilled not to be running a municipality anymore.
Jim Gilcreast said not a flake of snow dared to fall on the Boston College campus.
Jean Patiky did a lovely watercolor called Snow Day (really).
Anthony Hollingshead was happy to have an extra week of preparation for his debut as presiding officer.
Richard Leone said the city was doing a bang-up job for his business.
Jan Feyler is wondering if it's safe to come home next week.
