President Kris, asked for a moment of silence in remembrance of our beloved member Margaret Kane.

Announcements:

Our club will participate in Rotary International’s Celebration of Service on Friday, September 8th from 8:15 – 11:30am. Rotarians from around Rhode Island will be helping to install the traveling Veteran’s Wall Memorial at Rocky Point. Go to www.osdri.org to sign up to volunteer.
 
Our Board approved the following members to serve on the Nominating Committee: Sharon Garland, Chair, Pete Brock, Richard Applebaum, Rob Brewster, Jan Feyler, Anthony Hollingshead and Anthony Landi. Please contact a member of the committee if you would like to serve on our Board which is a two-year term starting from July, 1st, 2025.
 
President Kris asked each member to solicit one sponsor to support our upcoming Legends for Literacy Gala which will take place on Monday, October 16th. Details and sponsor levels and ticket purchases are on our website.
 
Million Dollar Meal to support the Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund raiser will be hosted by Anthony and Stacy Landi at their home on Sept. 30th – The End of the Summer Bash! The cost per family is $26.50. Checks should be made out to the The Rotary Foundation and given to either Kris or Alex.

  • $10 Anthony Landi looking forward to hosting The End of the Summer Bash! Hope to see us all there.
  • $2 Liz who is very proud of her daughter Kate being hired by the Attleboro YMCA as their new COO.
  • $20 Holly for her very enjoyable two-week family of 15 Summer gathering. One week each in Maine and then Little Compton/Westport.
  • $2 Steve for his son’s placing a GPS tracker in his 5-1/2 year old grandson's backpack through which they ultimately found him when he got on the wrong bus. And for taping Service Matters to be aired Sep. 2.
  • $20 Barbara for being back and attending in person the Book Club and friends.
  • $1 Cap for his daughter taking his granddaughter to Syracuse University and then stayed to help the Freshman get acclimated.
  • $2 Richard happy to be back in RI and the wonderful performance by Alex David at the Newport Playhouse.

New Member Induction:  

President Kris swore in Chris Salvatore, recent Past President of the Warren/Barrington Club. He was sponsored by Past President Anthony Hollingshead.

Annual Hands-on Project:

This service project was putting together “Welcome Back to School Kits for students in pre-k to 5th grade at the Harry Kizirian Elementary School. Funding for the project was provided by the Providence Rotary Charities Foundation.
